for my sis

My little sister set Mediterranean sail in early October with stops like Rome, Greece, Turkey and Croatia. Needless to say I was extremely jealous. So I found a way for her to take a little piece of me with her. Out of jealously love came this little zip up clutch.

I was overjoyed when she returned and told me she used it all the time! So there I am her new sarahjanemade clutch is in all of her pictures!
lookin good on the ship

Success!

sarahjanemade... in the kitchen

a halloween cake!

This was a super easy and fun recipe found in country living magazine. The recipe called for some fancy chocolate stick candies to make a "fence" around the edge. I figured I could find something cheaper and just as cute. The reese's pieces are perfect and festive!

little red apples with love from japan

When making gifts for people I love, the proof is in the pudding. This little skirt is a gift. It's for a first year birthday gift. As I type this I clearly need to make a matching onesie stat. Perhaps with one line of apples sewn down the side? Now I have completely lost my train of thought and what I was going to say about this (TOTAL) bargain of tiny loving apple fabric (from one of my new favorite online shops). This skirt would not be the darling it is without (my luck of finding @ joann) this hello kitty ribbon. If you have ever been interested in hello kitty fabric you would know it is not cheap, AT ALL. I don't know why and truthfully I'm not really a hello kitty girl, uhhh, besides my pen mug in the office that IS hello kitty, and very cute. Ok, so I am kind of hello kitty kind of girl, hence my being interested in hello kitty fabric. I was interested, I did not purchase. Too expensive. I'm not THAT much of a hello kitty kind of girl. When I saw this ribbon I swooped it up. For like six dollars. Still expensive...

...but so cute and looks puuurrrrfect with the fabric (even in bad light)

retro rocket baby cuteness

This Michael Miller retro rocket baby fabric stole my heart the moment I saw it. I usually won't buy something I like the first time I see it. I'm a sleep on it kinda gal. I dreamt of all the adorbs I could do with these lil' space babes and rushed back to my fav spot to grab some. Then I went back (after I made the skirts and shorts) to get some more, that's when this plush lovely blanket was made.
totes adorbs

I love this blanket. Part of me wants to save it, just in case.... just in case, I get pregnant again, and just in case it's a boy again. I always thought girl clothes and baby girl goods were sooooo much cuter than boy stuff but day by day I am changing the way. There are so many darling fabrics that make for great boy goods.  little boys should be dressed for fun and play bring on the colors and the prints.

here are a couple of my fav boy looks so far...

happy fall!

I love fall. I had to put a sweatshirt on for the first time in months and it felt so good.  So excited to "get my fall on" with all kinds of cozy. First holiday of the cool season, Halloween! My mind is racing with costumes for my one year old and while my imagination has been working overtime so has my trusty brother sewing machine. I received some orange and black with my shipment and have been blowing through black thread to bust out some all hallow's october wear for the mini's on the block. I attempted my first dual front pant pockets on a pair or orange legs. They turned out so cute and sewn so well. i was so excited to get them on my little model.

... and I had sewn the pockets on the butt of the pants! Not sure if it's worth my time to take off the pockets, or just let junior wear pockets on his bum...hmmm) They are very cute, no?

This is how we learn. I bet I will never make that mistake again!
Luckily the halloween skirts came out perfectly and are ready to be worn! A pair of striped black and white (or purple) tights and some mary janes, oh I love it!!
Visit the shop to pick one up before they sell out!

pale snail

My favorite local fabric shop, which I recently discovered is closing.  This is very bad news.  It's such a cute shop and very inspiring just walking through the door of the 1920's little house that has been converted into a seamstress' dream.  The good news is everything is on sale!  I could not resist picking up some things I have been eyeing despite receiving the very first shipment of fabric this week.
like this pale snail beauty
This will make for a gorgeous throw on any couch or bed (or crib)!  It is 100% cotton and would be a very darling skirt or dress also.  I gave it a good wash and dry and paired it up with a cream super cuddle where it will probably live and love and cuddle forever (maybe some teal rickrack to spice it up a little).
I have been looking at this fabric for awhile and finally picked it up at my local place on sale, I found it online here as well ...
tula prince charming fabric
note:I probably paid more for it on sale in my lovely store BUT there is a huge love in going to the fabric store and giving them all a good feel prior to (finding one you love and) purchase. Buying online is just not the same (DUH) and I love to support small business in my locale.

I also picked up some super cute flannels and some of the most cuddly minky soft love lovey fabric on earth.  I am sure these will be seen soon as winter approaches.

Stay tuned for more to come... Very cute things are being finished... MORE cute things are being started...

let it begin...

The fabric has arrived! The very first shipment is here! This was my first online fabric order and I am so pleased at how everything turned out. I just wish I had ordered more. Everything is imported from Japan through a specialty Japanese craft and fabric website. It is certain to make for some darling things of all kinds adorable.

Don't be gone too long!
